A natural gateway between Italy and Switzerland

Location

Just a few steps from the village of Maloja, our Alpine lodge represents the ideal gateway between the Engadin and the Bregaglia Valley.

Maloja Kulm stands proudly at the summit of the Maloja Pass — a location that inspired its name: kulm is an old German word meaning "peak", derived from the Latin culmen.

A panoramic high point and natural threshold, it is the perfect place to admire the unspoiled landscape that embraces the border between Italy and Switzerland — two worlds united by the majesty of the Alps.

Maloja Kulm is located less than 20 minutes by car from the luxurious resort of St. Moritz, and under 40 minutes from the charming town of Chiavenna, in the province of Sondrio.

The Maloja Pass also lends its name to the Maloja Region, which unites the Upper Engadin and the Bregaglia Valley, restoring to the village its prestigious role as the starting point of the Engadin Ski Marathon.

Historically used as a commercial transit route, the Maloja Pass marks the watershed between the Mera basin (flowing toward the Adriatic Sea) and the Inn basin (which leads to the Black Sea), making it a long-standing natural and cultural crossroads.

Even today, it retains this role — serving as the perfect link between Valchiavenna in Italy and the Engadin, a valley in the Grisons canton of Switzerland.

Amid this enchanting Alpine scenery lies Maloja Kulm — ready to welcome you into a earthly paradise, where the clock seems to pause, giving way to an idyllic stay between snow-covered peaks and untouched nature.
