In fact, Maloja is the official starting point of the renowned Engadin Ski Marathon, held on the area’s extensive 220 km of trails, beginning right at the doorstep of Maloja Kulm.

In addition to being the starting point of the renowned cross-country Engadin Ski Marathon, Maloja is also home to the Aela ski area—welcoming both beginners and more experienced alpine skiers and snowboarders. With its Ski lift and Pony lift, adults and children alike can reach a peak at over 2,000 meters, surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Bregaglia and the lakes of the Engadine.
Snowshoeing, also known as "Snowshoe Hiking", is a timeless winter activity, and a must-do in a magical setting like the Maloja Pass. The area features the majority of the main trails in the Bregaglia Valley, making it the perfect place to explore on foot through the snow.
Sledding is a popular winter sport in the Engadine. Atmospheric routes offer spectacular mountain views. Suitable for young and old, fun is guaranteed amid thrilling descents, deep snow and a unique and enchanting alpine atmosphere.
Maloja is home to one of the largest glacial pothole parks in Europe: the “Marmitte dei Giganti”, which can be explored via a dedicated educational trail. You will also have the opportunity to try ice climbing on frozen waterfalls in various parts of the valley, such as the Albigna Valley and the Forno Valley, always under the guidance of a certified mountain expert.
